Skills Connect is West Yorkshire Combined Authority's (WYCA) fully funded, non-accredited adult training programme. It offers flexible courses at an equivalent to Level 3 and above and has been developed to address employer skills shortages within the region, allowing individuals to access higher level employment opportunities or progression within their current employment. As part of the Skills Connect offer, we are looking to deliver a series of Skills Bootcamps that meet the specific skills needs of Local Authority areas within West Yorkshire: Wakefield Local Authority and Leeds Local Authority.
There is a growing need across all organisations for increased digital skills, with West Yorkshire having seen significant growth in the digital and tech sector and a growing skills gap, this is an area of concern. The programme aims to address under-representation within the digital/tech industries, supporting the local and regional digital skills gap and supporting upcoming growth areas specifically in healthtech.
A Skills Bootcamp specialising in Advanced Digital Skills is required to work with a wide range of employment sectors across Wakefield District. Wakefield ICT graduates are not equipped with the relevant specialist coding skills that employers are seeking for a modern, fast paced working environment.
