This work supports the Road to Zero Harm plan, specifically around guidance, training and compliance for commercial vehicles. The work delivered under this task will be used as a template for delivery in-house every year during the RIS3 period. Training, education, guidance, engagement and promotion is a key element to embedding best practice across 'at work drivers' (car, van, HGV). At National Highways, the Commercial Vehicle Incident Prevention (CVIP) team which includes the Driving for Better Business programme are responsible for identifying the key causes of incidents involving commercial vehicles and implementing interventions to help reduce the number of commercial vehicle related incidents that take place. Each year, the team are required to review trends and data, engage with the "driving at work" industry, review legislation changes to identify the requirements to be completed for the proceeding year. Key to the success of this workstream is the ability to be proactive in identifying key issues and concerns and design, develop and promote best practice.
