There is emerging evidence that some staff working to support suicide prevention in an administrative, secondary capacity may experience symptoms associated with Vicarious Trauma resultant from their work. Though not necessarily in direct contact with or involved in responding to incidents related to suicide many working in this capacity experience routine exposure to the detail of deaths by suicide which can impact on their own mental health and wellbeing. NHS Sussex Integrated Care Board (NHS Sussex ICB) has recognised the impact on some non-frontline staff and have identified a gap in the support available.
