The UK government's central e-tendering platform where public sector organisations publish contract opportunities and suppliers submit bids electronically.
In-Tend is the UK government's official e-tendering portal, operated by the Cabinet Office. It serves as the primary digital platform where public sector organisations advertise contract opportunities and manage the entire procurement process electronically. The system replaced earlier fragmented approaches to electronic tendering across government departments.
The platform handles procurements from small contracts through to major government programmes worth millions of pounds. All central government departments are required to use In-Tend for their competitive tenders, though other public sector bodies may use alternative compliant systems.
Buying organisations create tender documents, set evaluation criteria, and publish opportunities directly through the portal. Suppliers register once to access all opportunities, download tender documentation, submit bids, and communicate with buyers through secure messaging.
The system integrates with Contracts Finder, automatically publishing contract awards and ensuring transparency requirements under the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 are met. In-Tend also connects to Find a Tender (the UK's replacement for OJEU notices post-Brexit) for higher-value procurements.
The platform includes document libraries, collaborative workspaces for consortium bids, automated deadline reminders, and audit trails for compliance purposes. Electronic signatures are supported, and the system maintains strict security standards for handling commercially sensitive information.
In-Tend standardises procurement processes across government, reduces administrative burden, and provides suppliers with a single point of access to public sector opportunities. It supports the government's digital-first agenda while ensuring procurement remains open, fair, and transparent.
