Public Health Wales (PHW) is committed to supporting the national Blood-Borne Virus (BBV) screening services, including for HIV, Hepatitis B (HBV), Hepatitis C (HCV), and syphilis. collection and analysis of samples across our screening programs.
The timely and efficient processing of these samples is critical to achieving the World Health Organization's (WHO) ambitious elimination targets for HIV, HBV, HCV, and syphilis. As part of this, Welsh Government produced a circular mandating that Welsh Prisons achieve and maintain elimination of Hepatitis C amongst the prison population. Public Health Wales have been supporting this effort and have begun to introduce this test as part of the general community Point of Care testing pathway.
Use of an oral swab as opposed to a needle or finger price test supports wider usage in community testing by providing equitable access for:
• Individuals with needle phobia who may refuse any alternative means of testing
• Patients with poor venous access, who may otherwise refuse blood-based testing.
• Hard-to-reach populations, where venepuncture or finger-prick testing is a barrier.
• Non-phlebotomist testers.
Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking to commission a service to deliver Level 2 oral surgery services in a primary care or
community setting, for patients over 16 years of age who live in the counties of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire

SSP-FTS-61450 - Provision of Commercial Storage and Distribution Services for Medical Consumables
NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership (NWSSP), on behalf of NHS Wales organisations, requires the provision of a fully managed commercial storage and distribution service to support the storage, management and deployment of medical consumables, including pandemic preparedness stock such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
The requirement originates from the need to maintain appropriate levels of strategic stockholding across Wales to ensure preparedness, resilience and continuity of supply in response to public health emergencies. Whilst demand has reduced from peak pandemic levels, Welsh Government guidance continues to require the maintenance of resilience stock to support future emergency response capability.
NWSSP currently operates core warehousing infrastructure across Denbigh, Bridgend and Newport. These facilities operate under a structured stock management model aligned to forecast usage but have limited capacity to accommodate additional volumes. As a result, commercial storage provision remains essential to support ongoing resilience requirements.
This procurement seeks to establish a compliant, resilient and scalable service that ensures continuity of supply, rapid deployment capability and effective stock management across Wales.
