Nexus wishes to establish a multi-supplier Framework Agreement for the hire of Road Rail Vehicles and Operators (the "RRV Framework"). Under the RRV Framework, Nexus may issue requests to the Suppliers to provide Road Rail Vehicles and Operators in accordance with the Framework Scope and Nexus's requirements in respect of Hire Contracts. The proposed Bus Services Framework is being established to support the future procurement of a wide range of bus and passenger transport services. These include secured local bus services, schools and works transport, group travel, seasonal services, Metro replacement services, and other operational or emergency transport requirements. The framework will operate as a closed framework agreement for an initial three-year period, with the option to extend for up to 24 months. The total estimated framework value is up to £200 million across the potential five-year term. Nexus currently spends around £20 million each year on bus service contracts procured through a number of separate tendering exercises. The new framework aims to provide a more efficient and flexible procurement route, reducing the need for repeated procurements while maintaining competition and supporting effective service delivery.

Nexus are looking for a training provider to deliver NEC4 Contract management training. A supplier is required to deliver a certified structured NEC4 training programme comprising a minimum of eight in-person training sessions at Nexus locations across Tyne and Wear over an initial three-year contract period. The supplier will be expected to work collaboratively with Nexus to develop training content and delivery schedules that align with organisational requirements and support the continued development of staff involved in procurement, project management and contract administration activities. To enhance the knowledge, skills and capability of Nexus' Major Projects and Procurement teams through the delivery of NEC4 contract management training, enabling employees to effectively procure, administer and manage NEC4 contracts, support best practice project delivery, and ensure the successful management of future infrastructure and capital investment programmes. The aim of this project is to improve the NEC4 contract management capability of Nexus' Major Projects and Procurement teams through the provision of specialist training, creating a knowledgeable and competent workforce capable of effectively procuring, administering and managing NEC4 contracts. Nexus delivers a range of infrastructure, asset renewal and capital investment projects and is seeking to further develop internal capability in the use of NEC4 contracts. There is a requirement to provide structured, practical training that supports both project management and procurement professionals, ensuring a consistent understanding of NEC4 principles, responsibilities and best practice across the organisation. The training programme will support the following objectives: 1. Develop NEC4 contract management knowledge and competency across Nexus' Major Projects and Procurement teams. 2. Improve understanding of NEC4 contract principles, processes and responsibilities throughout the contract lifecycle. 3. Ensure employees are equipped to effectively procure, administer and manage NEC4 contracts. 4. Promote best practice in contract management, risk management and collaborative working. 5. Provide practical, scenario-based learning that can be applied to live projects and procurement activities. 6. Support the successful delivery of Nexus' capital investment, infrastructure and major project programmes. 7. Establish a consistent approach to NEC4 contract management across the organisation. 8. Deliver a minimum of eight in-person training sessions over the contract term. Nexus are looking for a design and build contract to undertake the improvement of existing facilities at South Gosforth Control Centre for staff to create a fit for purpose working environment. The aim of the project is to improve the existing facilities at South Gosforth Control Centre for staff to create a fit for purpose working environment. The building was constructed in 1980 and has undergone limited refurbishment in 2014 and 2021/22. There is a requirement for a more flexible working environment and improved welfare facilities from users to align with Nexus Places principles. However, following investigations of the structure and its systems several assets require renewal or upgrades to achieve compliance, including security measures. The Control Centre must remain operational 24/7 during the project. We are looking for a contractor to undertake the design and build contract for the refurbishment of the Control Centre. Scope requirements The preliminary scope requirements for the Control Centre refurbishment are: Accessibility improvements for movements to and around the building (not including the provision of a lift) Traffic management and street furniture improvements Roof and roof safe access improvements Drainage system improvements Fire detection and protection improvements Lighting, high voltage and low voltage systems upgrades Ventilation and gas suppression system upgrades M&E provisions for upgrades to welfare facilities Security system upgrades (inc. CCTV) Removal of internal walls and installation of glass partitions and soundproofed internal walls Improvements to canteen and welfare facilities Provision for additional meeting rooms, breakout areas and desks Improvements to ICT systems and provisions for user usage A supplier is required to carry out a design and build contract for the refurbishment of the Control Centre. As the Passenger Transport Executive for Tyne and Wear, Nexus is responsible for the maintenance and development of public transport networks across the region, including the Tyne and Wear Metro. Nexus is undertaking a project, known as Metro to Washington, to extend the Metro system by 13km. The new route will link with existing stations at Pelaw and South Hylton via Washington and plans include three new stations at Follingsby, Washington North and Washington South. Metro to Washington is a transformative project that will unlock access to highly skilled jobs and opportunities, deliver clean, green, accessible and modern integrated transport, and build a resilient and secure public transport solution to meet demand in Washington in the wider region. The project is estimated to cost in the region of £900 million and will involve the construction of three new stations, including civils and structures, building services, electrical and mechanical, overhead line and permanent way. Nexus is working with the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority on an Outline Business Case (OBC) for Metro to Washington, planned for submission in March 2027. Alongside this, we're progressing from feasibility through to outline design with our technical partners, Arup. Proposed contract dates for detailed design and construction are subject to further funding and chosen procurement approach, but construction is indicatively planned from 2030. The three phases of Metro to Washington are: Phase 1: 2023 - 2027 'Plan' - Feasibility study. Surveys. Outline designs. Value for Money Assessment. Phase 2: 2027 - 2030 'Planning' - Planning permission. Contractor procurement. Cost confirmation. Phase 3: 2030 onwards 'Plans' - Award contracts. Complete the Detailed design. Deliver the scheme Nexus is undertaking preliminary market engagement to provide an overview of the project and emerging procurement strategy and is seeking valuable insights from the market as it develops those plans.

As the Passenger Transport Executive for Tyne and Wear, Nexus is responsible for the maintenance of public transport networks across the region, including the Tyne and Wear Metro. Nexus is undertaking a project, known as MetroGo, to upgrade the Metro's signalling system. This new system will improve journey times, reliability and safety, and pave the way for the future expansion of the Metro network. Whilst the project remains subject to final funding decisions, the MetroGo Strategic Outline Business Case was approved by the Government in July 2025 and the outline business case is expected to be submitted in late 2026. Estimated to cost in the region of £400 million the MetroGo project will involve the supply of a range of goods, services and works, including enabling civils work, system supply, trackside installation, vehicle fitment, control centre design, build and fit out, and ongoing maintenance of all of the above. Nexus is undertaking preliminary market engagement in advance of procurement activities which are scheduled to commence in 2027/28. The market engagement will provide an overview of the project and emerging procurement strategy and is seeking valuable insights from the market as it develops those plans.

As the Passenger Transport Executive for Tyne and Wear, Nexus is responsible for the maintenance of public transport networks across the region, including the Tyne and Wear Metro. Nexus is undertaking a project of renewals across the Metro network, known as the Metro Assets Renewals Programme. The programme commenced in 2010 and covers a wide range of activity, including track renewals and refurbishment, station refurbishment and overhead line replacement. The renewals programme involves the supply of a range of goods, services and works, including civils and structures, building services, electrical and mechanical, overhead line, permanent way, rolling stock, and signalling systems. Nexus is undertaking preliminary market engagement to provide an overview of the renewal programme and the expected pipeline of related projects up to 2032, subject to ongoing funding decisions.
