Excavation, Cable Laying and Reinstatement for Isles of Scilly
National Grid's aim is to obtain contractor services for Excavation, Cable Lay, and Reinstatement on the Isles of Scilly. The work will consist of planned and reactive work.
Looking to provide continuity and coverage on the isles for 6.5 years which will cover ED3.
National Grid is seeking to establish a multi-supplier framework agreement for the provision of Pensions Actuarial Advisory Services and related pensions, employee benefits, risk management, governance, and advisory support services across its UK pension arrangements. The framework will support both business-as-usual activities and project-based requirements and will be available for use by National Grid and its associated entities.
The framework is intended to provide access to suitably qualified suppliers capable of delivering specialist advice and support across a range of areas, including but not limited to:
Pensions actuarial and accounting advice.
Pension scheme funding and investment strategy support.
Governance and regulatory advisory services.
Pension benefit design and reward strategy.
Corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions support.
Pension risk management and financial wellbeing advisory services.
Employee benefits and related consultancy services.
National Grid intends to appoint up to nine (9) suppliers to the framework. The framework will operate through individual call-off engagements awarded either through direct award or mini-competition, depending on the nature of the requirement and the capabilities required. National Grid does not guarantee any minimum volume or value of work under the framework.
The estimated value of the framework is £5.2 million over its full potential term, comprising an initial five (5) year term with the option to extend for up to three (3) additional one-year periods. Services will be supplied on an as-needed basis in accordance with the framework agreement and the requirements of individual call-off engagements.

Pole Planting Framework
National Grid's objective is to select appropriate suppliers to create a Pole Planting Framework to supply services across the East and West Midlands, South West England and South Wales regions. The anticipated term of the framework will be a 5 year initial term with 3 1-year extension options if National Grid choose to exercise the right to extend.
National Grid UK spend approximately £27,000,000 per annum on Pole Planting Services however please note, this is an indicative figure across all areas and there is no guarantee of volumes under this Framework.
The Works cover some or all of the activities listed below, exact requirements will be detailed in the relevant Work Instruction:
1. Provision of plant, machinery, and operatives for the excavation and standing of wood poles and/or associated stays.
2. Transportation of transformers, switchgear, poles, and associated materials to site, including support with their erection, dismantling, and the removal of redundant equipment as scrap.
3. Trenching, installation, repair, and testing of earthing systems; trenching and installation of service cables; and construction of joint bays at the base of overhead line poles operating on:
- Low Voltage (up to 1000 V)
- High Voltage (11,000 V)
- Extra High Voltage (33,000 V / 66,000 V) networks
The Works may include:
- Activities undertaken on the Public Highway and where specified, excavation and reinstatement works. Traffic management is to be carried out by National Grid's nominated provider.
- Provision of a 24-hour emergency response service, which may include planned standby, unplanned callouts, and response during significant weather-related events.
- Completion of all activities in compliance with National Grid Policies and Standard Techniques.
