RFQ - Investigating the hygrothermal and dynamic thermal properties of English traditional solid wall construction for resilience in a changing climate - literature review and gap analysis (UID 332)
This project forms part of Historic England’s Technical Guidance Review, which has the overarching aim to ensure our guidance is up to date, reflective of current understanding and best practice for historic building climate change mitigation and adaptation. To this end, Historic England has identified that robust, evidence-based solutions for climate change mitigation in English buildings of traditional construction are needed that demonstrably balance savings in energy and carbon (operational and embodied) across heating and cooling seasons, whilst supporting the climate resilience of fabric and their occupants through the anticipated changes to our climate.
As a first step, a literature review and gap analysis is required to determine the current level of understanding of the topic and help steer the development of further research. It will focus on the following research questions:
1. How do the hygrothermal and dynamic thermal properties of English traditional solid wall construction affect whole-building overheating risk and passive cooling performance, and how are these affected by insulation retrofit and future climate scenarios?
2. How do these wall-related effects interact with other whole-building factors, including orientation, solar gain, ventilation, occupancy/use, moisture condition, heating/cooling patterns and other mitigation and adaptation measures?
The findings will be presented as an article for publication in a peer-reviewed journal (journal to be agreed) and for publication in Historic England’s Research Report Series format. They will be disseminated through Historic England’s Technical Tuesday webinar series.
ITT - Investigation into case studies of AVCLs installed in buildings of traditional construction - UID 333M
Historic England is looking to support research which will inform guidance on the suitability of retrospectively fitting modern technologies into English buildings of traditional construction.
Following the publication of an earlier literature review, this project aims to help fill the gaps in current knowledge by offering insight into traditionally constructed buildings which have been retrofitted with AVCLs (Air and Vapour Control Layers).
The project will review a selection of case studies and report on the findings, including any positive or negative consequences, of the installations.

Aerial Reconnaissance oblique cameras and lens' replacement - UID 250
Our current Nikon D850 SLR cameras and lenses are coming to the end of their natural life so they need to be replaced. We have older digital cameras and lenses that can be used in part exchange. Before beginning the procurement process, we need to find out from suppliers if they will take old cameras in part exchange and how much they will pay for them.
