The school has reported frequent water leaks in the Reuben Business Centre Building and the Conference Centre. This impacts on the school's safe use of both buildings and they frequently have to respond to water dripping from the ceiling inside both buildings.
Following surveys undertaken by an independent professional surveyor, remedial work has been recommended on both roofs. The Trust is looking to resolve this issue on behalf of the school.
The Trust has sought advice from specialists and understands that there are a variety of potential solutions, each varying in effectiveness and cost.
The Trust is not prescriptive on the methodology on the remediation work and has instead focused on specifying the desired outcomes. It is the responsibility of the bidder to propose the solutions that they believe represent the best value for money to the Trust.
The Trust is flexible with when the work can take place. The school is happy to accommodate work during term-time, but this is conditional on all workers assigned to the project holding a valid Enhanced DBS certificate. Any work taking place during term-time should be carried out in a manner that is unlikely to disturb the school's use of its premises.
Included in the tender pack are images of the areas to be addressed, as well as the survey information provided by our surveyor; the roof survey is linked to the Reuben Business Centre, but the requirement linked to the Conference Centre was given during a visual condition survey of the whole school site and the requirement set out in the below is the recommendation given during that survey. We expect site visits will be needed to verify the level of work needed on both roofs.
The tender pack (available electronically) provides a detailed schedule of the works we would like to be completed.
The Trust expects that the total value of the contract is likely to cost between GBP100,000 - GBP150,000, but this is largely dependent on whether a repair or full replacement is being proposed.
Anthem Trust has previously commissioned a survey into the condition of its properties and Grampian primary School has been identified as having an urgent requirement to make repairs to the staff and visitor car park.
The surface of the staff car park is deteriorating, potholes have formed, drainage is poor and flooding is an issue. Kerbing is damaged and deteriorating.
The total budget for the remediation project is currently set between GBP70,000 - GBP85,000. This will take place during school holidays to minimise disruption to the school and to allow access to site for contractors.
Included in the tender pack is a plan of the site showing the location of the carpark, although it
is understood that the bidder will wish to perform a site survey of their own.
The service required is:
-Carry out reconstruction of the staff car park, including reconstruction of deteriorating
surface, making improvements to drainage and kerbing, and improvements to parking
bays
-Car park area to be extended such as to increase parking capacity. This may include earthworks &
tree removal.
-Driveway leading into the car park is widened
-Project works are completed during the Easter school holidays (31/03/2023 - 17/04/2023)

The school previously occupied two separate buildings located on a single site, separated by a car park, which, for simplicity have been named KS1 and KS2.
During the 2021/22 academic year, the school consolidated all of its teaching space into the KS1 block. The catering kitchen remains in the KS2 block and we now wish to relocate this kitchen into the KS1 block.
The project will include some building work, the provision of new services and equipment as well as the relocation of existing equipment.
Anthem would like to invite tenderers to submit their proposals for the works based on the schedule provided in the specification. It is envisaged that the majority of the work can take place during term time.
Full details of the service required are outlined in the specification document (https://anthemtrust.sharepoint.com/:f:/s/Tenders/EkVXfrlyRQ5FseEc2yMv3pUBjfcyh0OV5ZrsM7KgKtJiuQ?e=lBnlSP).
The Academy will offer and facilitate site visits for suppliers intending to submit a proposal.
The Trust envisages that this work should cost no more than GBP120,000.
The school address is: Abbey Woods Academy, Wimblestraw Road, Berinsfield, Oxon, OX10 7LZ
