Post Office has a requirement to count and strap bank notes for Bank of England and Scottish banks, across 3 UK centres, as part of our obligations as a member of the NCS. Post Office currently has an estate of 12 existing automatic strapping machines in its cash centres that require ongoing maintenance and servicing in line with OEM recommendations. Post Office also require the option to replace failed equipment with new automatic strapping machines and or seek to increase the number of machines held in the estate. Post Office also has strapping machines at its Swindon stock and a wrapping machine that will also require ongoing maintenance. The strapping machines are critical equipment for the Post Office operation. Bank notes require strapping, in order to be paid in to Bond or sent to BOE. Post Office shall also require the provision for short term equipment hire, in the event of strapping machine failure, become BER or due to operational pressures. Procurement conducted an exercise to obtain three quotes from the market to ensure fair competition. The restricted process ensured a compliant PCR 2015 award with reduced timescales.
