The UK Space Agency's Unlocking Space for Government programme has funding available for research and development to address overheating in NHS estates. The funding will support the creation of innovative, satellite-enabled products and services that help NHS Estates teams identify, prioritise, and mitigate heat and humidity risks across their trusts. A Contract for Innovation is one of the routes being considered for delivering this funding. We invite suppliers, researchers, and other interested organisations to join this market engagement webinar to learn more about this opportunity and to help shape it. . Our understanding of the operational challenges and available capabilities is shaped by close collaboration with NHS stakeholders, the Satellite Applications Catapult, and relevant suppliers. We are aware of established commercial capabilities in environmental heat mapping, climate risk analytics, and building performance modelling and monitoring. Our findings indicate that satellite-enabled technology and data, along with data from the NHS and relevant suppliers, can innovate existing methods of heat analysis and thermal modelling; this is where targeted research and development funding can add the most value. This webinar forms part of our pre-funding call market engagement under the Procurement Act 2023. It gives the wider market an open opportunity to engage with and test this understanding before the scope and route to market are finalised. In this webinar, the UK Space Agency, the NHS and the Satellite Applications Catapult will present: · An introduction to the Unlocking Space for Government programme · Our current understanding of the market and existing capabilities · The challenges regarding overheating for NHS teams and patients · An overview of the proposed funding route, including indicative timescales, scope, and expectations · How to share information on existing capabilities, products and services, including any available through government frameworks such as Space-Enabled and Geospatial Services (RM6235), and your views on research and development priorities Please join us to learn more about this opportunity and the challenge faced by NHS trusts across the country, as well as meet potential partners and get any needed clarification ahead of any funding competition launch. Attendees will be invited to share information including on existing capabilities and research and development priorities. Responses will inform the final scope of the opportunity and the decision on the most appropriate route to market. Please register using the Register link. Registration helps us plan for numbers and share follow-up materials. Registration also includes two short, optional multiple-choice questions, which will help us tailor the session to attendees’ interests.
