Laundry Replacement of the PLC Controlling

Description

NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership (NWSSP) All-Wales Laundry Service (AWLS), is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to undertake the replacement of the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and associated software controlling the Continuous Batch Washer (CBW) at Llansamlet Laundry Production Unit, Swansea. The facility processes approximately 35,000 linen items per day, with the CBW playing a critical role in maintaining operational capacity and service continuity. The successful contractor will be required to undertake a full survey and mapping of existing panel I/O and wiring configurations, supply and install a replacement PLC, provide compatible software interfaces, and ensure continued operation of the existing machine and control programmes. The project must also include full integration with associated press PLCs and sorting systems, commissioning of the completed installation, and comprehensive training for on-site personnel. All works must be completed outside normal production hours to ensure no disruption to laundry operations. The Authority requires the complete delivery, installation, commissioning, training, and acceptance of the works by 28 February 2027, with all associated invoicing completed by 31 March 2027. Contractors must demonstrate relevant technical capability and experience in industrial automation, PLC systems, and operationally critical production environments.
