The Council is aiming to provide a suite of educational qualifications in addition to what they provide at the Educated Other Than AT School (EOTAS) provision that shall offer practical work life experience to the Council’s most vulnerable children in EOTAS and mainstream children, so they have every opportunity to achieve qualifications that support them into the wider world of work or a college pathway. Courses can include technical and vocational qualifications. Qualifications and courses can range from entry level upwards, from accredited to non-accredited. The courses will be delivered from a mixture of the new Centre for Skills for Learning in Pontllanfraith and external provision depending on the course provision. The course will provide EOTAS learners with no prior construction experience an industry-level programme that delivers essential construction skills and hands-on “multi-skills” training leading to City & Guilds Level 1 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Construction Skills (or equivalent), while also giving them practical knowledge and experience of the construction sector to prepare them for progression to Level 2 qualifications or apprenticeships.
The course will provide EOTAS learners with little or no experience with foundational practical skills in hairdressing and beauty therapy, delivering an accredited course that promotes technical competence and professional standards while providing hands-on experience and sector knowledge to prepare them for progression to Level 2 qualifications or apprenticeships.
The course will introduce EOTAS learners with limited or no prior experience to essential digital competencies, focusing on creativity, communication and the safe use of technology, while providing an accessible and supportive foundation that enables progression into further education or employment.
