The Track Circuit Operating Device - Remote Controlled (T-COD (RC) or ZKL) is a Network Rail approved device that creates a circuit in the track that indicates that the section is occupied by simulating a train, which therefore sets the signals to red and the signallers track circuited section to occupied. This enables planned track work in a Line Blockage to have Additional Protection, in addition to signal protection for works to be carried out safely. A requirement is to ensure that the batteries to operate the device(s) are operable and charged. This does require regular maintenance to ensure that the equipment performs as required.
