| Procurement Method: | Direct award |
| Method Rationale: | The Client awarded its previous contract following an open tender process: https://www.find-tender.service.gov.uk/Notice/002899-2025 However, the incumbent contractor has since ceased providing the Service without warning despite: - a requirement of the contract stipulated that the Contractor give an early warning by notifying the client as soon as it became aware of any matter which could impair the effectiveness of the service: - a lack indication from the Client's financial checks that the incumbent contractor was likely to enter financial difficulty Following discussion with third parties acting on behalf of the incumbent contractor, it is understood the business will be liquidated and wound up accordingly, resulting in a lack of sufficient engineering support, risking the failure of the Client's laundry equipment. The previous contract has been terminated. However, the Client is not in a position to cease the Services whilst a formal procurement activity is carried out. Therefore the Client is issuing this notice in connection with the direct award of a contract for the Service following termination of the previous contract in accordance with relevant grounds under section 41 of the Procurement Act (Urgency) whilst a formal procurement exercise is carried out. Suppliers are invited to email the named contact on this notice to express an interest in the subsequent procurement exercise. |

To support the day to day operation of the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (The Client)'s Laundry Production Equipment, a Contractor is required to carry out both planned and ad-hoc (e.g. reactive) engineering servicing and maintenance at the Nottingham City Hospital (The Service). The objective is to ensure the Laundry Production Equipment is supported by qualified engineers and subsequently fit for the purpose of enabling the Client’s staff to operate the equipment safely, efficiently and reliably. The Contractor is expected to deliver full engineering services to cover planned preventive and reactive maintenance. Servicing the laundry equipment regularly ensures wash results, optimizes the client's chemical usage, reduces the likelihood of costly breakdown and increases the life of the machinery and equipment, mitigating having to buy a new machine due to lack of maintenance. The Contractor will be required to utilize the Client's digital planned preventative maintenance (PPM) system to provide the service.
