Gateshead Council has reviewed and recommissioned the care and support contract for Angel and Callendar Court Extra Care settings. Angel Court is a 45 two bed scheme located in Harlow Green with the registered housing provider being the Council. Callendar Court is a 40 one bed and two bed scheme located in Beacon Lough Estate. As a borough, Gateshead have an increasing ageing population. In addition, the number of people living with dementia is also increasing. There is a need to ensure the new care and support contract is able to support this increasing need, with the ethos of supporting residents to remain independent, remain in their own home and reduce the reliance on residential care.
