Specifically: 1) Existing proprietary accessories (including headrests, stirrups and table extensions) are not interchangeable with alternative manufacturers' systems. 2) The introduction of additional platforms would create disproportionate technical complexity and maintenance burden for Medical Engineering (EBME). 3) Clinical risk would be increased, as introducing a different user interface for identical surgical procedures heightens the risk of operator error for staff working across the theatre suite. Accordingly, this direct award is lawful under Schedule 5, Paragraph 6 of the Procurement Act 2023. |
