The project is the construction of new council housing at the Bolehill View site in Sheffield, and will be made up of 36 new units comprising of: • 3 x Building Regulations Part M4 (1) units (visitable) • 30 x Building Regulations Part M4 (2) units (adaptable) • 3 x Building Regulations Part M4 (3) units (adaptable for wheelchair users) The building comprises two blocks which share characteristics in regards their appearance. Block 1 is a two storey block, and Block 2 is a three storey block. Both are of traditional construction and have shallow pitched roofs to reflect the surrounding building types, both in material approach as well as general heights and massing. The proposed facing brick is a simple wire-cut multi red brick with a rolled texture that creates a subtle detail to the elevations. Feature brick modelling panels, consisting of half brick running bond have been used to break up the elevation between and below selected windows. Windows are a variety of sizes, and the roofs are to be finished with a smooth finished concrete roof tile. The elevations are finished with steel and glass canopies to main entrances. Attached to block 1 is both the mechanical and electrical plant room which will serve both blocks and will house an air-sourced heat pump. The proposed external works for the site comprises co-originated paving, planting and boundary improvements (which will have Party Wall considerations), as well as improved car-parking and car-charging facilities.
