Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college, designated within the Further Education sector, requiring Farm Management Services, at its farm located at the York campus. As an academic institution, all its resources, including the farm, exist to assist in the delivery of high quality learning, teaching and research. The college farm is a commercial enterprise, managed to support a realistic working environment for students to experience and acquire an appropriate range of industrially relevant skills. The farm comprises approximately 240 ha of land and buildings which include a dairy unit comprising of a 20:20 rapid exit parlour, a robotic milking unit, cubicle housing and associated handling areas and infrastructure, a purpose-built calf rearing and beef finishing unit, forage clamps, waste handling facilities and a 22kWh micro anaerobic digester. The proposed contract includes management of the Farming Business specifically the management of the dairy, beef and sheep enterprises and associated forage and arable crop production, working in conjunction with the curriculum provision of agricultural education. The College require the supplier to have experience in such areas as well as in the management of student training requirements, to provide a high quality learning experience.
