The FSA are making £150,000 - £245,000 (excl. VAT) available for applicants to conduct a survey of PAHs and other potentially genotoxic compounds in smoked foods/ingredients and smoked alternatives. This will involve testing for the PAHs regulated under Assimilated Commission Regulation (EC) No 1881/2006 and those laid out in Assimilated Commission Regulation (EC) No 627/2006, plus additional chemicals identified as concern or potential concern for genotoxicity by the AEJEG and EFSA (at least 20 compounds dependent on available methods). The number of smoked products surveyed will be dependent on availability of samples and price of analysis per product. Full details in specification document.
