Preliminary Market Engagement (PME): The University of York is seeking to develop a deep geothermal doublet system to supply heat to the campus district heat network with funding from the government’s Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme. To do this the University needs to appoint a drilling contractor capable of drilling the 5km shafts within the University's timeframe. Further details of the requirements can be found within the PME Questionnaire available to download from the In-Tend. Market engagement through the completion of this PME questionnaire is sought to determine the availability of drilling contractors within the project programme as well as establish a dialogue with industry professionals to enable project optimisation. The University of York has issued this market engagement questionnaire to seek feedback from the deep onshore drilling market to help it to shape its strategy prior to advertising its tender to secure a drilling rig to deliver its geothermal project requirements. The aim of this Preliminary Market Engagement (PME) is two fold, firstly to notify the market of the University’s requirements, and for the University to obtain detailed feedback from drilling contractors who are capable of delivering the drilling requirements to the University.
