This Request for Quotation is for the package of landscaping works as part of the Bootle Canalside project. The Council has purchased 1.8 acres of land to the south of the Bootle Strand Shopping Centre and to the North of the Leeds Liverpool Canal to deliver a project which will assist in the regeneration of both the Strand and the wider Bootle area. A key element of the project is to deliver a Waterside Urban Garden on the site. A temporary landscaping strategy utilising planters and seating of different size will be used to define the zones and spaces within the site, create points of interest and meeting places, as well as opportunities for socialising and community events. The soft landscaping and planting within containers is also intended to soften and break up the hard surfacing across the site. This will be most evident with the waterside garden area, where the number of planters and variety of planting will create the impression of a leafy and green public urban garden on the banks of the canal. The proposed materials for the planters will be attractive yet robust, safe and secure, with the temporary aesthetic described previously yet still suitable for a public environment.
