The UK Government's Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP) will deliver tangible and positive impacts on the livelihoods of coastal communities who depend on healthy marine ecosystems; through the provision of demand-led technical assistance to countries that informs and develops science-based policy and education initiatives across three themes: marine pollution, sustainable seafood (One Health Aquaculture), and biodiversity loss. The OCPP work in Sri Lanka builds on the successes of the Commonwealth Litter Programme (CLiP) through which the UK and Sri Lankan governments collaborated to design and develop a series of multimedia outputs created to raise awareness of marine litter and steps people can take to tackle it in Sri Lanka. Throughout the 22/23 FY Cefas will work alongside international partners in government and society to collaborate on work packages to tackle marine litter, including raising awareness to encourage best practices in litter disposal. This included a campaign distributing the multimedia resources created under CLiP in collaboration with the Central Environment Authority in Sri Lanka. Branded media were produced for radio, television and newspapers with the radio comprising of 4 (multilingual) public service announcements and 4 short dramas (approx. 3minutes) and distributed January to March 2022. Cefas once again requires a supplier to distribute these products to target audiences in Sri Lanka via appropriate television channels, radio channels and newspapers.
