Quarterly report for the contracts awarded between 01.10.24 - 31.12.24. WM5G Limited - a subsidiary of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) - has been leading pioneering work to accelerate the deployment of digital connectivity and to test and prove opportunities to transform key sectors sensors, data and digital connectivity. WM5G is now looking to scale-up and accelerate the adoption of these technology services across the West Midlands in order to deliver radically more effective and efficient services and boost economic recovery and growth and increase digital inclusion. WM5G is establishing a collaborative Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) for a range of services relating to the transformation of systems and services and the acceleration and scaling of 5G* adoption in key sectors - with an initial focus on advanced manufacturing and social care/smart communities.
Business Analysis & Support The Business Analysis & Support Lot will provide resource skills and expertise in support of advanced digital connectivity technology projects. Advanced digital connectivity includes technologies such as 5G, WiFi 6/7, full fibre broadband, satellite and low powered networks (e.g. LoRaWAN) in combination with sensors/devices and data & AI. The scope of this lot covers provision of resource either to supplement existing teams or as an outsourced provider to manager and deliver larger deliverables. The nature of the resources typically required is diverse and some examples (nonexhaustive list) are: • advanced wireless & connectivity specialists, • project & programme managers, • user researchers, • connectivity service design, • business analysts, • system designer, • solutions architect, • data architect, • data modeller, • quality assurance analyst, • data and analytics specialists and data scientists. Resources will work directly with clients and prospects to identify, evaluate, design and deliver solutions based-on a stacked set of use cases in order to meet clients'/prospects'/sector needs to transform systems, processes and return on investment leveraging a mix of advanced wireless technologies. Resources will be well versed in translating deliverables into key insights and supporting collateral. Resources will be commissioned to deliver specific objectives and tasks. This includes business needs assessment and requirement gathering, business case development, solution design and strategy and planning.
The Connectivity Product Development Support Lot will provide resource skills and expertise in support of digital connectivity technology projects. The scope of this lot covers provision of resource either to supplement existing teams or as an outsourced provider to manager and deliver larger deliverables. The nature of the resources typically required is diverse and some examples (non-exhaustive list) are: • advanced wireless & connectivity specialists and engineers, • connectivity product managers, • connected device product managers, • project & programme managers, • user researchers, • solutions architect, • assurance analyst, • test engineers. Resources will deliver technical requirements for advanced wireless (Wi-Fi 6, satellite, 5G, 4G, narrowband e.g., LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, Bluetooth, applications, sensors, Data inc cloud & edge, AI and decisioning) end point devices (including industrial IoT devices such as robotics, automated guided vehicles, tooling, health monitors etc), sensors (e.g. smartphones, smart watches, motion sensors, cameras etc.), network products and platforms (including radio and core platforms & products), solutions and integrations, including design, testing, general and last mile support. Resources will be commissioned to deliver specific objectives and tasks.
The System Integration Lot will provide resource skills and expertise in support of digital connectivity technology projects. The scope of this lot covers provision of resource either to supplement existing teams or as an outsourced provider to manager and deliver larger deliverables. The nature of the resources typically required is diverse and some examples (non-exhaustive list) are: • Enterprise architects, • Network engineers, • Software engineers, • Full stack developers, • Network testing & integration specialists, • Network operations managers, • advanced wireless & connectivity specialists, • project & programme managers, • learning and development manager, • training provider, • change management specialists. Resources will deliver enhanced deployment and superior change management support including support to deploy, test and deliver solutions and realise business case benefits. Resources will be well versed in delivering readiness assessments, communication planning, coaching and manager training, employee training development and benefits realisation tracking. Resources will be commissioned to deliver specific objectives and tasks.
The Design and Delivery of Support Services Lot will provide resource skills and expertise in support of digital connectivity technology projects. The scope of this lot covers provision of resource either to supplement existing teams or as an outsourced provider to manager and deliver larger deliverables. The nature of the resources typically required is diverse and some examples (non-exhaustive list) are: • advanced wireless & connectivity specialists, • project & programme managers, • user researchers, • connectivity service design, • business analysts, • system designer, • solutions architect, • data architect, • data modeller, • quality assurance analyst, • data and analytics specialists, • data scientists, • change management, • stakeholder engagement. Resources will deliver a range of support services to inspire, raise awareness of and realise the potential for advanced wireless solutions to deliver key business benefits. Resources will be well versed in identifying, assessing and pre-qualifying business needs; co-developing delivery plans and programme/product roadmaps; and delivering a range of business support including business case, design, funding, sourcing, deployment and change management support. Resources will be commissioned to deliver specific objectives and tasks.
