it has been discovered over the past few years that due to the installation of prepaid meters and now smart meters when a property becomes void, it is now in most cases an issue that the property electricity supply to the property becomes disrupted due to the property's electricity supply falling into debt. It has proven impossible during the void process to regain the supply to the property which has impacted an increase in the turnaround times, a health and safety issue for the internal and external workforce when carrying out refurbishment works. It has also impacted neighbours with an increase in the use of petrol generator power, which in turn impacts our use of greener energy use and hits the incoming tenant who may have disabled needs and is unable to move into the property or must move into the property on completion without any electricity supply. All these factors have a negative impact on the council.
