The 5G Open RAN servers will form part of the Cambridgeshire Open RAN Ecosystem (CORE) project that is funded by the Department for Science Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and being delivered by a number of commercial and academic partners in collaboration with Cambridgeshire County Council as the Project Lead. The primary purpose of the CORE project is to deploy and demonstrate the capabilities of Open RAN technology within a standalone 5G network in High Demand Density locations. The Authority, as part of the CORE project, require servers and associated equipment/software that will host the 5G Open RAN network and Mixed Reality application being developed by the CORE project. The servers will host several components on the 5G network including the CapGemini core network, RIC (both real-time and near real-time), CU/DU, AWTG SMO/SCAP and a Mixed Reality (MR) application. The servers will also need to interconnect with Bentel Radio Units and AWTG's Flex5G system. The servers will need to be capable of hosting a variety of different software that will be supplied by AWTG, CapGemini and the Mixed Reality software creator. It is therefore essential that the servers are compatible. This is a further competition using the Crown Commercial Services RM6098 Technology Products & Associated Services 2 framework Lot 1 - Hardware and Software and Associated Services.
