Description

The Client invites proposals for the provision of specialist technical advice to support its oversight of the 'Business Case Study' examining potential alternative ways to deliver Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR)-level benefits for Leeds to Liverpool by addressing infrastructural issues between Manchester and Liverpool, including connectivity between Manchester Airport and the wider North. The Client will require the support of technical advisors who are highly capable, with expertise and experience in rail systems (including track design) and civils (including tunnelling, grade separated junctions, new line segments and station boxes). The DfT are looking for proof of concept engineering, and as such this may draw on aspects from several Network Rail (NR) Engineering Stages, with vertical and horizontal alignments both being of relevance, as well as a good understanding of NR standards and where derogations from these standards are likely to be acceptable.
