The Council's Economy & Skills team and the newly established Education, Employment & Skills Board as part of the Fairer Economy plan 23-26 seeks to gather information about local skills provision, demand, and supply to inform the development of the Skills Strategy. This piece of work is intended to fill a perceived gap in local evidence. In particular, baseline evidence is required to inform the following Council aims: (i) Working closely with local training providers and industry partners to improve pathways to employment, prioritising building partnerships with industries and individual employers who are most likely to employ Westminster residents in productive, high-quality jobs (ii) Understanding the relative importance of building strong partnerships with local training providers and employers vs. the need to cast a wider net e.g. at a London-wide level. (iii) Improving local services that help inactive, unemployed, or employed residents develop skills that lead to stable, productive, high-quality employment, at any stage of their careers (iv) Providing residents at every stage of their labour-market journey with reliable information about skills and training they will need to secure a high-quality job in the future.
