The Council carries out weed control services along its highway network to satisfy its statutory obligation to help keep roads safe for all highway users and to maintain its infrastructure. The main activities required under this contract consist of the following: • Weed control on roads, footways, detached footways / alleyways and hard surface / paved areas • The treatment of injurious weeds such as Japanese Knotweed and Giant Hogweed • Other programmed activities • Ad-hoc works Contractors are expected to have the knowledge and experience to carry out programmed weed treatment on the highway network to the time periods set out in this Contract.
