This is a continuous hire for which the current limit has run out and we require a new limit order to be raised. We have tried using another company but had operational issues and had to come back to this one as we could not find another appropriate supplier due to the specialist nature of this vehicle. Currently two cherry pickers are used to meet our service requirement, but this has been recently reviewed based on the last 6 months usage and the requirement is now being reduced to just one cherry picker When the review of the property department has been concluded the property transport section will be submitting a business case for a procurement exercise for hire vehicles that will include cherry pickers to maintain the service we currently provide with a view to looking to procure our own cherry picker but unfortunately due to excessive lead in times with the supply of this type of vehicle this will take at least 12-18 months. The Vehicles have been on hire since 11/08/2021. The cost from 01/04/2021 - 31/03/2022 was £39032.52, the spend report provided by Sally Becket Procurement Officer. Property Transport intend to continue this hire until the review of corporate Property has concluded, which will be done at the earliest by the end September 2022, though it may take longer and is not the decision of Property Transport Business Officer but that of Upper management, who have not disclosed the ultimate timescale of the review to the Property Transport Business Officer. The average cost of a cherry picker per year is around £40,000. I have requested the funding of £49,000 to cover the hire of the cherry pickers and to cover outstanding invoices.
