Northern Gas Operates 37,000km of gas pipe and is responsible for distribution gas to homes and businesses across the North of England, an area covering West, East & North Yorkshire, the North East and Northern Cumbria. 1190km of the network is High Pressure (HP >7 bar) Local Transmission System (LTS) which to comply with the Pipeline Safety Regs (PSR 1996) and IGEM/TD/1 Ed. 6 must be surveyed every 2 weeks in order to report on any activities or changes in and around the pipelines. This surveillance is predominantly undertaken using helicopters. The overall scope of the project is to provide a full Aerial surveillance and reporting service to Northern Gas Networks Ltd.
