This is an outreach dental service for a highly vulnerable population - ex rough sleepers and Project Adder clients (opiate users) - who have poor oral health, and more significant difficulties than the general population in being able to access NHS high street dental services. Existing high street NHS dentists do not have the capacity nor the equipment to set up an outreach service. Dentists do not have the capacity to take on new clients, particularly those who may not be particularly reliable at attending prebooked appointments in settings which are unfamiliar to them.There are no other providers of this type of service to commission to meet the needs of our population. As a charity DentAid are very competitively priced, as they use volunteer dentists to keep costs down.
