Following a water leak on 25 January 2023 in the William Mear Gardens area of Norwich, Norfolk and the appearance of a sinkhole, the existing supplier who had been awarded the standard adhoc Geotechnical Site Investigations services contract (under NRW/HCS/9852/G) were tasked with visiting the site as soon as possible to work with the council in order to ensure the area was made safe as soon as possible and to also assess the stability of the surrounding area. A new contract arrangement was required due to the additional value as the existing could not be varied under Regulation 72. The new contract award is compliant under Regulation 32 (2) as an emergency procurement requirement. The supplier will continue to be available to the council for their services on this project as and when required for a period of one year to 26 January 2024. The information of the water leak and the sinkhole is in the public domain.
