The Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP) was announced in 2021 as a key bilateral aid programme under the £500m Blue Planet Fund. The UK is working with partner countries to deliver marine science technical assistance across the 3 core themes of marine pollution, biodiversity loss and supporting sustainable seafood. Between 2021-26, Cefas lead delivery of the OCPP, working in partnership with experts from the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) and the Marine Management Organisation (MMO). This Contract aims to raise awareness and educate primary and secondary school students (ages 5-18) in Madagascar on the marine conservation issues addressed by the OCPP. The objectives include developing engaging and culturally relevant educational materials, implementing a comprehensive awareness campaign, and conducting interactive workshops and training sessions for students and educators. The initiative will also involve regular evaluation and reporting to assess the effectiveness of the campaign and ensure its alignment with the OCPP's goals, ultimately fostering a generation that values and actively participates in marine conservation. In addition, the cultivation of a cooperative network of pre-existing conservation and education organisations in the targeted regions is a desired outcome, to use existing knowledge and initiates, resulting in a network committed to long term cooperation and continuation of the goals of this Contract.
