The Soft X-ray Imager (SXI) Instrument is intended for use on the joint European Space Agency (ESA) and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) mission Solar Wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer (SMILE) to study the interaction of the solar wind with the Earth's magnetosphere and ionosphere. As part of the instrument Proto-Flight Model (PFM) acceptance test campaign, the SXI instrument needs to undergo thermal balance and thermal cycling acceptance testing to demonstrate compliance with instrument thermal performance requirements.
