Norfolk County Council has procure a service which is aimed at supporting men in Norfolk aged 18 and above presenting to GPs feeling depressed and hopeless. The procurement will be delivering against Public Health and the National strategy for Suicide Prevention priorities with agreed targets and deliverables. Our overarching aim is to reduce deaths by suicide in Norfolk to as close to zero as possible. Over 75% of those who take their own lives are male. Men often do not feel comfortable in seeking advice or support from traditional services available and some fall back on coping strategies that may be damaging to their health e.g., alcohol and drugs. The delivery partner will deliver the prevention and positive activities (PPA) work across Norfolk & Waveney. They will deliver this through a strengths-based approach supporting men to promote positive mental health outcomes by developing a better understanding of themselves throughout the various life stages. The work will be a mix of direct delivery, group work and partnership working, supporting men to engage with other services where necessary. The service will be committed to supporting men to overcome persistent and enduring challenges using approaches and techniques that will help them make the positive change needed in their wellbeing. The contract will be a multi-year opportunity working in close partnership with the Local Authority delivering to men across Norfolk.
