This contract is for PSTN infrastructure and to also cater for add-on services such as Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) Broadband. The move to the next generation digital Internet Protocol (IP) based network is required and with no action will result in loss of communications and functionality to the majority of Traffic Signals across Surrey. Example impacts include un-coordinated traffic signals at many of Surrey's major urban towns, which would cause traffic and congestion. Also the inability to remotely monitor the assets for faults, resulting in longer fault resolution times and relying mostly on the public to report faults. We are also in a partnership with Surrey Police and administer broadband for their ANPR cameras, doing nothing will hinder their capability to discharge their statutory duties.
