This notice is to inform the market that a contract has been awarded to its incumbent supplier, Keech Hospice, to continue to deliver Hospice Inpatient Unit for Children and Young People (CYP), including community support for children and young people. On 17th March 2023, the Authority published a Voluntary Ex-Ante Transparency Notice (VEAT) to inform the market of its intention to award this contract (reference 2023/S 000-007864). This service provides specialist palliative care support for Children and Young People who either do not need access to a hospital and/or who have identified their usual place of residence as a preferred place of care / death. Children's palliative care is an approach to care covering physical, emotional, social and spiritual support. This focusses on improving quality of life for the child or young person and supporting their family members or carers. This includes managing distressing symptoms, providing respite care and support with death and bereavement. This contract started on 1st April 2023 for a period of 12 months, with the option to extend for a further 12 months ending on 31st March 2025. The value of this contract is £441,619 (excl. VAT), the figure reflected in this notice is the total contract value, including the option to extend by a further 12 months. This is the final agreed figure which is slightly higher than the expected value set out within the VEAT, however this is not a material difference. The contract has been in place with the provider since 2013. The cumulative value of the contract to 31st March 2023 is £2,951,851 (excluding VAT and the value of this new contract). As this was a non-competitive process, the closing date identified in this Notice is the date by which the approval to award this contract was agreed through internal governance processes. The contract awarded date was the date on which the contract with the supplier was concluded.
