Newry Mourne & Down District Council’s PEACEPLUS Action Plan includes the delivery of Themed Diversity Festivals under Strand 3 – Celebrating Cultures and Diversity. Strand 3 focuses on cultural diversity and in increasing understanding of and respect for cultural identities. Competent suppliers are hereby invited to tender to design, develop and deliver a festival programme. The project will deliver a celebratory, educational participant lead project culminating in a accessible Food & Folk Fusion Festival in the Downpatrick DEA.

This project will engage a skilled community facilitator to work collaboratively with minority communities through a programme of facilitated mountain walks, storytelling, and reflective engagement at key historical and natural sites across the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area and one cross border mountain walk. Using walking as a participatory and accessible method, the project will explore shared heritage, folklore, and everyday histories that connect communities across geographical, cultural, and generational boundaries.

Newry Mourne & Down District Council’s PEACEPLUS Action Plan includes the delivery of Capacity Building and Engagement Programmes under Strand 2 – Thriving and Peaceful Communities. Strand 2 focuses on eight identified priority projects encompassing a broad range of initiatives focused on capacity building, leadership development, cross community relationship building interaction and engagement, social and emotional support, events and festivals and community justice interventions. This project will deliver accredited Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training within the Rowallane, Downpatrick and Mournes DEA areas, strengthening the capacity of local community and voluntary groups to identify, respond to, and signpost individuals experiencing mental health challenges. The project will build capacity within local community & voluntary organisations to support mental wellbeing equipping participants with MHFA skills to respond confidently to emerging mental health issues, foster stronger

Competent consultancy companies are hereby invited to tender to design, develop and deliver a Social and Emotional Intergenerational Support programme, focusing on Men’s sheds. This project will deliver 7 intergenerational Men’s Sheds programmes, delivered across the Council area with one per District Electoral Area (DEA). The programme will be participant lead, based on needs and interests. Activities could include woodwork, gardening, digital skills, cookery, photography, board games etc.

Competent suppliers are invited to tender for the design, development and delivery of a shared history and culture programme. The project will engage an experienced community facilitator to work collaboratively with children, exploring the lives and legacies of Giant Murphy (Patrick Murphy) and “Honest” John Martin. Through music, drama, visual art and storytelling, children will explore and re tell Rostrevor’s history in their own voices, connecting past and present while celebrating the town’s cultural heritage.
