The National Gallery is seeking to appoint an Accessibility and Inclusion Consultant with the capability, capacity and relevant experience to support the delivery of a new development at the Gallery, located on Trafalgar Square in central London. The Project will involve the development of a new building integrated with the existing National Gallery estate within a highly constrained and sensitive urban, cultural and heritage context. The appointed consultant will be required to support the development and coordination of accessibility and inclusion strategies across the Project, including matters relating to physical access, circulation, movement, wayfinding, visitor experience, inclusive design, operational accessibility and integration with existing buildings and public-facing environments. The successful Accessibility and Inclusion Consultant will be appointed to undertake professional services across RIBA Stages 0-7, as set out in the Scope of Services included within the Form of Appointment. Candidates will be required to demonstrate experience in delivering accessibility and inclusion consultancy services of comparable scale, complexity and sensitivity within the United Kingdom, including projects involving cultural, public or civic institutions, existing operational environments and heritage-sensitive contexts. The role of the Accessibility and Inclusion Consultant will include, as a minimum: • acting in a lead role responsible for development and coordination of the accessibility and inclusion strategy across the Project; • advising the Client and Project Team on accessibility compliance, inclusive design principles, physical access, circulation, movement, wayfinding and visitor experience considerations; • supporting the development of inclusive environments across both the new development and integration with the existing National Gallery estate; • supporting planning, Building Regulations and statutory approval processes, including preparation and coordination of Access Statements and accessibility-related submissions; • engaging with user groups, access panels, focus groups and stakeholder representatives in relation to accessibility and inclusion considerations; • coordinating accessibility and inclusion requirements with the Architect, Landscape Architect, Planning Consultant, Fire Engineer, Security Consultant, Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health Engineer, Cost Consultant and other relevant disciplines; • advising on accessibility and inclusion considerations relating to existing buildings, operational environments, constrained conditions and heritage-sensitive contexts; and • supporting the Project through design, procurement, construction, handover and post-occupancy stages, including ongoing advice in relation to accessibility and inclusion matters.

The Project will involve the development of a new building integrated with the existing National Gallery estate within a highly constrained and sensitive urban, cultural and heritage context. The appointed consultant will be required to support the development and coordination of the security strategy across the Project, including matters relating to protective security, hostile vehicle mitigation, blast resilience, access control, visitor management, operational security, public realm interfaces and integration with existing buildings and operational environments. Candidates will be required to demonstrate experience in delivering security consultancy services of comparable scale, complexity and sensitivity within the United Kingdom, including projects involving cultural, public or civic institutions, operational environments and heritage-sensitive contexts. The role of the Security Consultant will include, as a minimum: • acting in a lead role responsible for development and coordination of the security strategy across the Project; • advising the Client and Project Team on protective security, hostile vehicle mitigation, blast resilience, access control, visitor management, operational security and public realm security considerations; • supporting the development of integrated security strategies across both the new development and integration with the existing National Gallery estate; • supporting planning, statutory approval and stakeholder engagement processes relating to security matters; • liaising with Westminster City Council, the Metropolitan Police Service, the National Protective Security Authority and other relevant stakeholders; • coordinating security requirements with the Architect, Landscape Architect, Planning Consultant, Fire Engineer, Accessibility and Inclusion Consultant, Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health Engineer and other relevant disciplines; • advising on security considerations relating to existing buildings, operational environments, constrained conditions and heritage-sensitive contexts; and • supporting the Project through design, procurement, construction, handover and operational stages, including ongoing advice in relation to security matters.

The Project will involve the development of a new building integrated with the existing National Gallery estate within a highly constrained and sensitive urban, cultural and heritage context. The appointed consultant will be required to support the development and coordination of the fire strategy across the Project, including matters relating to means of escape, compartmentation, smoke control, evacuation strategy, phased occupation, operational continuity, fire safety integration and coordination with the existing estate and publicly accessible environments. Candidates will be required to demonstrate experience in delivering fire engineering services of comparable scale, complexity and sensitivity within the United Kingdom, including projects involving cultural, public or civic institutions, operational environments and heritage-sensitive contexts. The role of the Fire Engineering Consultant will include, as a minimum: • acting in a lead role responsible for development and coordination of the fire strategy across the Project; • advising the Client and Project Team on fire safety strategy, means of escape, compartmentation, smoke control, evacuation, phased occupation and operational fire safety considerations; • supporting the development of integrated fire strategies across both the new development and integration with the existing National Gallery estate; • supporting planning, statutory approval and Building Regulations processes relating to fire engineering matters; • liaising with the London Fire Brigade, Registered Building Control Approver and other relevant stakeholders; • coordinating fire strategy requirements with the Architect, Landscape Architect, Structural Engineer, Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health Engineer, Security Consultant, Accessibility and Inclusion Consultant and other relevant disciplines; • advising on fire engineering considerations relating to existing buildings, operational environments, constrained conditions and heritage-sensitive contexts; and • supporting the Project through design, procurement, construction, handover and operational stages, including ongoing advice in relation to fire engineering matters.

The Project will involve the development of a new building integrated with the existing National Gallery estate within a highly constrained and sensitive urban, cultural and heritage context. The appointed consultant will be required to support the development and coordination of the sustainability strategy across the Project, including matters relating to operational energy, embodied carbon, Whole Life Carbon, circular economy principles, demolition and retention strategy, environmental performance, planning policy compliance and integration with the existing estate and heritage context. The role of the Sustainability Consultant will include, as a minimum: • acting in a lead role responsible for development and coordination of the sustainability strategy across the Project; • advising the Client and Project Team on operational energy, embodied carbon, Whole Life Carbon, circular economy principles, environmental performance and sustainability policy compliance; • supporting the development of integrated sustainability strategies across both the new development and integration with the existing National Gallery estate; supporting planning, statutory approval and environmental certification processes, including Whole Life Carbon assessments, Circular Economy Statements and BREEAM certification; • advising on sustainability considerations relating to demolition, retention, retrofit and adaptation of existing buildings; • coordinating sustainability requirements with the Architect, Structural Engineer, Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health Engineer, Planning Consultant, Cost Consultant and other relevant disciplines; • advising on sustainability considerations relating to existing buildings, operational environments, constrained conditions and heritage-sensitive contexts; and • supporting the Project through design, procurement, construction, handover and operational stages, including ongoing advice in relation to sustainability matters.
