NGET is seeking to appoint partners (Enterprise Partners) with the capacity and capability to deliver its strategic infrastructure priorities through a collaborative delivery model (the Great Grid Upgrade Partnership). This procurement comprises two lots:
- Lot 1 is a design, consenting and environmental services lot under which NGET is seeking to appoint two Enterprise Partners plus one Reserve Partner
- Lot 2 is a construction works and services lot under which NGET is seeking to appoint four to six Enterprise Partners plus zero to two Reserve Partners.
The contractual arrangements will comprise a main Enterprise Agreement regulating the rights and obligations of NGET and the Enterprise Partners, with call-off contracts for individual packages using the NEC4 family of contracts.
A virtual launch event will be held w/c 5 June: to attend please email SIProcurement@nationalgrid.com with email addresses for your attendees.

National Grid Electricity Transmission - iPaaS Procurement
National Grid Electricity Transmission (NG ET) owns and maintains the high voltage electricity network in England and Wales comprising 4,500 miles of overhead line, 900 miles of underground cable and more than 300 substations.
Our cables and substations are at the centre of the energy system. Every time a phone is plugged in, or switch is turned on, we've played a part, connecting homes and business to the electricity they need. It's a crucial role and pivotal in turning the UK's net zero ambitions into reality.
NG ET aims to become an intelligently connected utility, with the ability to respond quickly to market opportunities and changes impacting the business. The enterprise integration platform is the nerve centre that connects internal business systems together and enables secure business flows and process automation between NG ET and other National Grid entities as well as between NG ET and various eco-system partners. The current suite of integration products and their operating model limit the Business' aspirations to be modern and agile. Building new integrations relies on a central pool of specialised resources and constrains the speed at which integration projects can be delivered.

Eastern Green Link 3, Scotland to Norfolk, England HVDC Link Project-Cables
National Grid Electricity Transmission PLC and Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission PLC (the "Employers") are jointly developing a HVDC link between the Netherton Hub, west of Peterhead, Scotland and Norfolk, England (the "HVDC Link"). This notice concerns the procurement and award of contract(s) for:
• Design, supply, manufacture, install, test and commission 525kV HVDC submarine and underground cable system, including but not limited to:
• extruded cable systems at along with all associated cable accessories
• HVDC submarine cable supply and complete installation including lay, jointing and burial. The submarine route length is expected to be in the range of 540 to 580km.
• HVDC onshore underground cable system supply, installation and associated civil engineering works as required that will link the Peterhead site in Scotland to the adjacent coast. The onshore route length of this element is approximately 10 km.
• AC cable circa 1km at Peterhead site in Scotland, 3-10km at Norfolk site.
• There is an option that it will be routed through a DCSS (DC Switching Station) also to be located within the Netherton Hub
• Design, supply but not install the cable that is to be routed onshore between the Lincolnshire coast and Norfolk, England. The onshore route length of this element is expected to be in the range of 90 to 135km. This cable will be installed onshore by others.
• Jointing of the onshore cable between Lincolnshire and Norfolk, the provision of installation instructions for use by the installation contractor and technical supervision of the onshore cable installation.
• Provision of cable spares and storage facilities for cable spares.
• Design, engineer, prepare, procure and install HDD (Horizontal Direct Drilling) ducts as required at the landfalls in both Scotland and England.
• Front-end engineering design services, in relation to any or all of the aforementioned scope.
• The Employers will require the Preferred Bidder to enter a Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA) for the cable systems, either as part of the main contract or a standalone contract. This may be structured as an agreement with the Employers either acting jointly or as a Joint Venture, or as separate LTSAs with each Employer with regard to separate sections of the cable.

National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) is seeking collaboration with universities to support delivery of its innovation strategy over the next five years
(April 2026 - Mar 2031). The primary objectives during this period include facilitating the energy system transition (including Clean Power 2030 and net zero
2050) and providing support for vulnerable consumers.
University partners will be expected to contribute both resources and technical expertise to the development and execution of Research & Development (R&D)
projects. We expect universities to run projects within Technology Readiness Levels 2 to 8 which includes research, development and demonstration projects.
These initiatives will enable NGET to ensure a safe and reliable electricity network, enhance consumer value, achieve decarbonisation of future networks, and
create a positive impact on society.
NGET will invite universities to propose new projects that address specific needs, while also encouraging the generation of innovative project ideas. In addition to individual innovation projects, partners will play a crucial role in fostering innovation through strategic development, knowledge sharing and promoting an innovation-driven culture. Knowledge sharing may include supporting NGET in running dissemination events across the energy sector and other industries to
communicate the outputs, learnings and benefits from projects, as well as using these events to learn from others.
