LNER operates a fleet of 8 x InterCity 225 trains (the IC225 Fleet) consisting of 84 x MKIV coaches and 12 x Class 91 locomotives. The IC225 Fleet is leased from Eversholt Rail and maintained by Northern Trains at Neville Hill TrainCare Centre in Leeds. A contract has been awarded for the overhaul of 44 x Class 91 wheelsets including the accompanying gearboxes.

The supply and delivery of Gas Oil conforming to BSEN590 for use in UK Railway vehicles marked and dyed in accordance with HM Customs and Exercise Regulations to one delivery location at Clayhills Depot in Aberdeen by road.

London North Eastern Railways (LNER) are the custodians of eleven UK Stations under the full repairing terms of a 99-year lease. It is LNER's responsibility to maintain, repair and improve these stations to the standards set out by the lease. LNER seeks to appoint on to a framework for the provision of architect services in accordance with the schedule of services. The proposed contract is for a duration of two years, with an option for LNER to extend for further one-year period up to a maximum of three years. The contract shall be awarded to up to three suppliers to carry out the services under the framework agreement who will then operate on a rotational basis. This agreement will allow us to direct award services up to a maximum construction value of £2m for services provided up to a call-off figure of £100,000. Projects over this figure shall be tendered separately or subject to a mini-competition. Works will be varied and on any station on our route, such as (not limited to) • New waiting Rooms • Redesigns of current spaces • Wayfinding • Spatial planning • Major refurbishments • Capex/Opex schemes via SAMP

Development, Maintenance and Support Services for the Central Booking Engine

This tender is for the replacement of Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) at LNER that sit within our station environment. We are looking to replace 87 (+ or - 20% as a range on this figure) incumbent devices with new multi-functional retail devices that will be known as Smart Ticketing Machines (STMs), to service our customers' needs today and in the future. We want to improve the customer experience, less clicks, less stress, happier customers and empowered colleagues. We are looking to utilise improvements in technology to ensure our new devices can add more value to stations going beyond just retailing tickets. We want to have digital screens capable of retailing tickets as well as offering multi-functionality. This will include an opportunity to display advertising and marketing materials, customer information and disruption information. These devices will possess the opportunity to link into other projects whether it be wayfinding, British sign language or other LNER led digital projects.

LNER was seeking to procure a minimum fleet of ten (10) InterCity trains based around specific technical and operating characteristics. The trains were to be fully rated for operation on 25kV Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) and with self-power capability for operation away from the OLE. On Board Energy Storage (OBES) for traction was to be specified as a mandatory requirement to reduce, and wherever practicable eliminate, diesel usage where it would otherwise be necessary. LNER anticipated that some degree of diesel traction may be required to supplement the OBES to meet all the self-power requirements. The trains will provide LNER with additional capacity to accommodate future growth and have performance characteristics that enable the fleet to be timetabled effectively amongst modern InterCity trains, as well as increasing the flexibility of LNER's fleet and providing the ability to provide uninterrupted services during engineering works.

LNER commenced a procurement process with potential manufacturers for the design, manufacture, testing and supply (and associated maintenance activities) of a fleet of ten (10) InterCity trains (the "Base Order Units"), owner owned spares, special tools, simulator hardware and technical information, mock-ups (together the "Leased Equipment") and depot works for the use on the East Coast franchise. There was also an option to procure up to an additional five (5) trains (the "Option Units"). The trains will provide LNER with additional capacity to accommodate future growth and have performance characteristics that enable the fleet to be timetabled effectively amongst modern InterCity trains. The trains shall be fully rated for operation on 25kV overhead line equipment and have self-power capability for operation on non-electrified sections of the network and over non-electrified diversionary routes, increasing the flexibility of LNER's fleet and the ability to provide uninterrupted services during engineering works.

This overall scheme will deliver a full replacement at Newcastle, York, Darlington (and subject to funding Doncaster) railway stations swapping the current Terrazzo tiles with suitable alternative, the preferred solution must deliver acceptable PTV values (slip resistance), must be easy to clean and maintain, must be in keeping with the historic nature of the buildings and must not be vulnerable to sweating or other climate related phenomenon. In addition, the scheme will also look at delivering a number of other minor improvements in parallel, such as additional duct routes, supply points and improved wayfinding. These items are not core scope and will be discussed during the next stage prior to completion of final design.

LNER leases a train maintenance depot from Network Rail in Aberdeen known as Clayhills Depot. As part of LNER's obligations to Network Rail it is responsible for maintaining the track at this location. LNER invited suppliers to tender for track maintenance activities at Clayhills Depot, including track patrols, minor maintenance, periodic surveys, work packages and on-call facility.

This tender presents two lots which captures the need for an integrated system which should work seamlessly. Tenderers may submit a bid for one or both lots of the tender.
