The requirements for this project include conducting a feasibility study to assess the condition of the existing lightning protection systems where installed and undertake a lightning protection risk assessment of the whole site to determine the potential for lightning strikes in accordance with BS EN 62305. And BS 7430+A.
The Lightning Protection investigations and reporting shall be carried out by ‘competent persons’ and or Company must be an affiliated to ATLAS and who shall meet the relevant experience and qualifications to produce comprehensively the requirements.
KBS Maritime are looking to engage a Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) specialist to develop and deploy a site-wide SCADA System at HMNB Portsmouth. The tenderer shall have a proven track record of delivering SCADA systems on large-scale, Critical National Infrastructure sites and have in-house expertise on cyber security, modern network architecture design, specification and manufacture of required hardware and provision to supply on-going maintenance support. The system shall be based upon IEC61850 protocols and be capable of supporting GOOSE messaging, Intelligent Fast Load Shedding, Automatic Network Reconfiguration and providing Power Management System functionality. The specialist shall also need to be familiar with the MOD Secure by Design principles.

A full review of all gas safety shut off systems within living accommodation and catering blocks to ensure compliancy and to reduce breakdown tasks where the gas system needs manually resetting, then replacing, as necessary. systems (Solenoid valves, extraction systems, gas detection units, forced ventilation interlocks, ect.) and a full review and replacement of obsolete/broken equipment, and replaced with up to date, compliant safety equipment. The short-to-medium term strategy for the NPC for Level 3 Sub-elements shall be based on a hierarchy of solutions that best reflects the future of the particular buildings concerned, for example. 1. Electric Heat Pumps (high temperature, CO2, heat pumps, cascade etc.) 2. Hybrid Heat Pumps (gas fired and air source) 3. Conventional gas fired boilers The solution for a particular building should be based on the following criteria. 1. Opportunity for a district heat network linked to other buildings 2. Pay-back period (given the potentially short asset lifecycle) 3. Thermal performance of the building and requirement for building fabric improvements e.g. double glazing and insulation 4. The requirement for pipework and emitter upgrades 5. Available footprint for internal/external plant 6. Spare capacity in electrical distribution boards, where applicable 7. Lead-time of equipment and installation/commissioning period 8. All works to be kept in alignment with Net Carbon Zero (NCZ) Strategy

KBS Maritime are looking to engage a HV Switchgear manufacturer to supply an 11kV 60Hz switchboard to replace an aging asset on the electrical network. The switchgear shall be of a proven design and compliant with relevant aspects BS EN 62271 and IEC equivalent. Ideally the switchgear shall be ENA compliant and available with an AFLR Internal Arc Classification, however switchgear that does not meet these requirements shall also be considered.
The overarching requirement of the project is to develop the RIBA Stage 3 Design into a complete RIBA Stage 4 Technical Design and subsequently build and commission the new Central Substation building (through RIBA Stage 5 and 6). This project is split into two principal Phases as outlined below - a Design Phase (1) and a Build Phase (2), each with their own corresponding Work Packages. In summary, this Project includes the following work packages: Project Phase 1 (Design) includes the following work packages: • WP 1: Survey and assessment work to facilitate the RIBA 4 design. • WP 2: RIBA 4 Technical Design incl. all temporary works designs. • WP 3: Undertake earthing design for Central Substation. Project Phase 2 (Build) includes the following work package: • WP 4: RIBA 5 and 6: Construct, Commission and Handover the works as designed in Phase 1. Installation of HV/LV Electrical switch panels and associated cabling shall not form part of this work, and will follow as a separate project once WP 4 is complete.
We are seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced contractors for the design and installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems on numerous buildings on Portsmouth Naval base. Our buildings present a range of structural requirements. Light weight solar installations are required for some key buildings due to weight limits of <7 kg/m² for the PV installation. Other buildings have insulated roof coverings, so require a non-penetrating mounting system is recommended to prevent damage to the insulation layer. Contractors must demonstrate proven capability in delivering PV systems within these constraints and in selecting technologies that ensure structural suitability, durability, and optimal performance. We will also inviting suppliers to join the KBS Maritime Framework for the supply and installation of the following PV requirements: • Standard PV • Lightweight PV • Specialized / Heritage - Solar Slate/Solar Tiles
