Contact Details - Richard Gillett Richard.Gillett@hailsham-tc.gov.uk 01323 841702 Hailsham Town Council Inglenook, Market Street, Hailsham East Sussex BN27 2AE Description or works: Update and repair of three significant playgrounds in the Hailsham parish, to be procured by Hailsham Town Council; under the direction of Hailsham Town Council Works Manager, Richard Gillett. Maurice Thornton play area: BN27 2JX Battle Road play area: BN27 1UA Stroma Gardens: BN27 3AZ The three areas are more than 10 years old and some of the equipment needs replacing, due to coming to the end of its serviceable life or starting to corrode. With the success of the new play area at Western Rd, the Council can take this opportunity to bring these three areas up to a good standard, offering excellent play value for all users. Area1: Maurice Thornton play area The Maurice Thornton play area has the compacity to include more equipment, so we wish to have installed a 30-meter arial zip line and to replace the broken inclusive roundabout. Installation of a new inclusive roundabout All the wet pour in this area needs overlaying, The new wet pour will have a soft edge finish and will be laid over the old, as to eliminate the issues with shrinkage and to cut down on groundwork cost. Area 2: Battle Rd play area Battle Road play area is used by many different age groups, and the Council has agreed to overlay the wet pour and replace the swings, but the Council now wishes to replace the Whirly bird roundabout at the same time with an inclusive option as a suitable replacement. Area 3: Stroma Gardens play area The installation of new pieces of toddler equipment. To remove the large slide and replace with a toddler multi play unit, install a four-person springy seesaw and an inclusive toddler springy. The Playdale toddler swings are in very good order, so there is no need to change them. The Proludic roundabout is not an inclusive piece of equipment, so changing this for something more suitable would be beneficial for the area, but not essential. (10+ native species trees will be planted inside the play area boundary, as there is ample space for this, and the funding will come from the new tree planting budget).
