Christmas Lights

Invitation to tender for Christmas Lights display, Beccles town centre (Suffolk) Beccles Town Council are looking to improve the Christmas lights display around the town. Ideally, we want to have a long-term relationship with a supplier to enhance the displays in a phased way over a few years. Our current situation is that we install considerable lengths of string LEDs up and down our streets and have a number of lamppost displays, as well as a number of rectangular panels fitted to the front of buildings (see sample images attached). We currently install the lights late October/November and they are on display until early January. We have a late night 'switch on' event on the last Friday of November. We are inviting tenders to supply lights on a three-to-five-year arrangement, starting in 2026 (or in 2027 if 2026 is not possible). Suppliers are invited to suggest a design approach, based on the following guidelines: • Having better, more varied lamppost displays • Having signature pieces installed at various locations throughout the town • How we can integrate some of our existing lights into the new layout, including (but not necessarily limited to) more imaginative use of string lights. We are open-minded as to the duration of the agreement and on whether the lights are rented, leased or bought outright or a combination of the three. We have an existing lights installation team and we therefore invite suppliers to provide costings for supply only and for supply and installation. We are looking for value for money and we therefore invite suppliers to submit designs at a range of prices. Site visits are welcome and we are willing to meet with prospective suppliers to show them potential locations and our existing lights. To arrange a visit, please contact Paul Cunningham, Town Clerk, on 01502 712109 or email paul.cunningham@becclestowncouncil.gov.uk. Submissions should be submitted by 30th April 2026, either by email to: admin@becclestowncouncil.gov.uk or by post to Christmas Lights tender, Beccles Town Council, Town Hall, The Walk, Beccles, NR34 9AJ. We are looking to award a contract in early June.
