Wyre Borough Council and Fylde Borough Council are going out to tender for the provision of a Bulky Waste collection service. The councils are planning to issue a tender notice in May 2025 for this opportunity and will be looking to follow the open procedure.
The contract will be on the basis of a 4 year initial term with a possible one year extension and will cover the boroughs of Fylde and Wyre.
Wyre Council is keen to explore options for the future operation and development of the Marine Hall Complex in Fleetwood. The council's aspiration is for an innovative and economically viable 'Entertainment Hub' that offers an enhanced range of entertainment, leisure, cultural and commercial activities for both residents and visitors to this area. It should be noted that, whilst the Council is wholly committed to providing a modern community focused entertainment facility, there is an overriding need to reduce the annual operating cost of the service whilst raising the standards of service delivery.
To provide an annual passenger ferry service between Fleetwood and Knott End with reduced hours in the Winter months. Operator is required to provide the ferry vessel, staff and be responsible for day to day operation. The anticipated vessel size would carry twelve passengers per journey with an estimate of 30,000 - 40,000 passengers per annum. The council own the ferry dock and slipway which will be used to facilitate the service. The operator will retain all fares including slipway launch fees and currently a contribution is provided by Wyre Borough Council and Lancashire County Council for the day to day running costs.
