Warwick District Council is seeking to appoint an operator to provide support in the running of free to use cycle facilities at Newbold Comyn in Royal Leamington Spa. The DPS will be used to commission temporary accommodation for WDC homeless services. Warwick District and Stratford-on-Avon District Councils (the Councils) are working together to prepare a joint South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP). It is intended that the new local plan will set out the planning policies that both Councils will use to assess planning applications. It will also identify and allocate sites to accommodate South Warwickshire's future needs for homes, jobs and infrastructure.The Councils wish to appoint consultants to undertake a Green Belt review of those parts of the West Midlands Green Belt which fall within the South Warwickshire area. This study will assess which areas of land contribute most strongly to the five purposes of Green Belt as set out in the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). The purpose of the study is to gain an understanding of which areas of land should retain their Green Belt designation, and which areas may have the potential for release without compromising the performance of the West Midlands Green Belt as a whole. This will form an important part of the evidence base, to be considered alongside other pieces of evidence when selecting the most suitable locations for growth. The contract will be for a period of 36 months commencing February 2024. The proposed budget for this project is ?2 million. The Royal Pump Rooms building was opened in 1814, when the small agricultural village of Leamington Priors was fast growing into a major spa resort. Since the 1780s increasing numbers of wealthy visitors had been coming to Leamington to 'take the waters' for their health while mixing with fashionable society. The Grade II building is now considered to be of national importance, though is at risk due to the failing roof fabric. As such a MEND grant has been awarded to facilitate the long-term protection of the building. The building is currently used in a number of ways, these include; o Warwickshire County Council Library o Leamington Spa Art Gallery and Museum o A highly successful cafe o Gift Shop o Meeting and assembly spaces The roof structure is currently made up of sections of flat roofing and slate tiled pitched roofing interfaced with various upstand details, glazed lanterns and parapet walls, all set over several different levels. A quantity of mechanical plant is located on the roof. Through consultation with key stakeholders the council have identified two popular green spaces in which to deliver a variety of lighting solutions. Victoria Park in Leamington and Mason Park in Lillington are two areas where our communities have reported feeling unsafe due to a lack of lighting. Both areas are popular green spaces for a variety of activities such as walking, running, and cycling. There is a common theme that these spaces aren't accessible after dark which is something we wish to change. The council have received Home Office funding (UKSPF) to deliver the two projects in 24/25. This contract is to provide and install solar lighting solutions for both Victoria Park and Mason Park. The projects must be completed by 31st March 2025 in line with Home Office requirements. Victoria Park requires a solar bollard solution installed at intervals around the entirety of the park's circular footpath, providing a wayfinding solution in hours of low light/darkness. Mason Park requires solar lighting columns installed at intervals along the main footpath through the park. The contract will be for a period of 6 months commencing September 2024.
