The University is seeking a potential UK based supplier to provide a Pick and Place Robot for PCB Components, an automated system designed to place electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs) with high precision and speed.

The Legal Practice Course (LPC) route to qualification as a solicitor is being phased out and a new, centrally set and assessed, examination called the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) has been introduced. From academic year 2025/26, Northumbria University will be delivering SQE1 training to students on three programmes; the final year of the undergraduate MLAW, the new postgraduate LL.M. Professional Legal Practice and on the Solicitor Higher Apprentice Programme. While students must sit the SQE assessments externally, our programmes are designed to prepare them for those assessments as well as giving them separate qualifications. We are looking for a supplier to work with us to provide these services.

Resurfacing of Synthetic Grass Hockey Pitch - To take old surface and replace with new synthetic grass.

The Faculty of Engineering and Environment at Northumbria University is undergoing expansion and enhancement of its engineering materials facilities. Following recent grant successes, this includes investment in both space and equipment. In particular, we are looking to improve our materials characterisation facilities. We are looking to acquire a Hall effect system to measure resistivity/conductivity, carrier mobility and carrier concentration and type in semiconductor thin films. The system must be well suited to measure transparent conductive oxides as well as solar absorbers such as Sb2(S,Se)3, Cu2ZnSn(S,Se4) and related materials typically deposited on glass substrates. The system should be compact and benchtop and capable of reliably measuring thin film samples with low mobility (10-1 cm2/V.s or below) without compromising the measurement quality or samples with high mobility. The system should include full software and a PC to measure and extract the desired film properties with a user-friendly interface. UK training and support is paramount.

This project aims to produce coloured bacterial cellulose using a co-culture approach, including melanated cellulose with potential UV resistance. The project also involves developing biological melanin production for coating applications. To support this project the acquisition of a UV analyser is required. Scope The project encompasses engineering biology and material sciences.

We want to upgrade all the spectrophotometers across our teaching and research labs in Health and Life Sciences. This will greatly impact teaching, improving the student experience, and within research, producing better and more reliable data.

Northumbria University has been awarded research grant funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council to investigate the aesthetic integration of solar photovoltaic panels into the built environment. As part of this project the investigator team has created a range of illustrative concept designs. We are now seeking to commission a piece of research to gain and understand feedback from the public on these concept designs. We are particularly keen to gain feedback that may relate to broader aspects of sustainability or well-being that could, for example, include behaviours, perceptions, perspectives and emotions. In providing this brief, we are seeking to engage with providers that have experience of conducting social science research with the public including: research design and methodology; and accessing and engaging with a large and varied sample set.

The University is looking to procure satellite parts, orbital modelling and thermal and mechanical modelling to create CubeSats. The University is planning on purchasing the remaining parts for the second CubeSat and, additionally for a complete third CubeSat, the University will build, assemble and integrate our laser payload into all three CubeSats ready for launch. Two of the CubeSats will get launched and the third CubeSat will be a testable on the ground.

Demolition of a Building on the Northumbria University Newcastle Campus.
