The University wishes to appoint a Contractor or Contractors to supply a High Pressure Freezing (HPF) system. The system is intended for use in cryo and correlative light electron microscopy studies so must provide high quality sample freezing resulting in amorphous ice without hexagonal ice crystals up to 200um sample thickness. The system is to be an integrated turnkey solution, complete with software and user training.
The University requires to procure and install a state-of-the-art internally heated pressure vessel (IHPV) for synthesising and testing geological materials under crustal pressures and magmatic temperatures. The IHPV will complement other experimental equipment in Manchester and provide a nationally unique capability for the wider NERC community. The IHPV should be fully operational by 3rd March 2024.

The current toolset has been implemented for around 5 years and is utilised primarily by IT Services, but also several other University departments.
