• We are seeking a desk-based update to the evidence and findings in the original LMS about the potential size and sustainability of a UK commercial spaceflight market, to reflect evidence from the period from 2021 to 2023. The evidence from the LMS and updated data relating to the period 2021-2023 will be used to consider the case for government intervention beyond Phase 1 of the Spaceflight programme. We are seeking updated figures for the global and UK addressable market, with a comparison with the figures in the original LMS and how 2021-2023 realised figures line up with what the LMS predicted, to show if there have been any significant changes.
The UK LTA is a key infrastructure in supporting the UK's Earth Observation sector, a service that UKSA needs in order to continue developing future opportunities.
This is a Contract Award Notice for a Space Partnership sponsorship agreement, as part of the Farnborough International Airshow 2024.
This is NOT a call for competition.
The space economy is changing at a rapid pace as commercialisation of the in-orbit environment leads to new opportunities. The UK is positioning itself to become a global leader in this field and through various interventions, intends to shape this new in-orbit economy that will underpin the future of space.
Demand for such space provided services is increasing rapidly for both commercial and scientific applications. De-risking critical technology enablers for the UK space industry allows for faster commercialisation of products and technologies within the UK, avoiding the utilisation of costly overseas testing alternatives.
To take on this leading role, UKSA intends to support the development of existing infrastructure into an enhanced national IOSM testing capability that meets the needs of the UK space sector, supports anticipated sector growth and drives UK opportunities within the IOSM market.
This is a Small Business Research initiative (SBRI) competition funded by the UK Space Agency.
The aim of the competition is to undertake feasibility studies to refuel the National Active Debris Removal Mission and a commercial client/customer satellite.
The challenge to be addressed by the successful team(s) can be summarised as follows:
• Elaborate the requirements for a mission which meets goal 1 of the study i.e. capable of refuelling the UK ADR satellite in Low Earth Orbit (LEO)
• Elaborate the requirements for a mission which meets goal 2 of the study i.e. capable of refuelling a commercial client/additional partner
• Develop a baseline design that responds to the technical requirements - providing confidence that the mission is feasible within the technical, programmatic, and financial constraints, which also defines what those constraints may be. Identify risks and propose realistic mitigations, establish plans for further development in the subsequent phases of the mission lifecycle
Further details of the tasks needed to deliver this SBRI can be found within Annex B - Project Specification- Active Debris Removal- Refuelling Study Phase 1 Overview.
It is important that you review Annex B as projects that are unable to meet the tasks of the SBRI may score poorly or be viewed as out of scope.

Unlocking Space for Business (USB) is a new programme being delivered by the UK Space Agency to support businesses in the Financial Services and Transport & Logistics sectors to:
• Better understand and prioritise how innovations in satellite data and services, combined with complementary data sources, can drive businesses benefits;
• Connect with leading data suppliers, aggregators, technology integrators and insight providers;
• Apply for Government funding to support the delivery of benefits from satellite data and services, through pilot projects, data procurement or partnerships.
Satellite data and services already underpin over 17% of UK GDP, with innovation continuing to unlock new opportunities for business. Harnessing satellite data and services with complementary data sources can unlock new opportunities for businesses, from revenue growth and operational efficiencies to customer experiences and environmental, social and governance (ESG) benefits.
Unlocking Space for Business is now launching a Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) competition, offering eligible organisations the chance to apply for a share of up to £2 million, inclusive of VAT,in an initial phase 1 competition to develop commercially viable innovative feasibility studies, that aim to combine terrestrial technologies with satellite data and services, to be adopted by customers in the Transport & Logistics and Financial Services sectors.
Projects will involve one or more of the three types of commercial satellite data and services:
• satellite imagery (earth observation)
• satellite connectivity & communications
• position, navigation & timing (PNT)
Projects will focus on, prioritising:
• new revenue growth opportunities
• improved customer experiences
• operational efficiencies
• environmental, social and governance (ESG) benefits
Applications are encouraged from organisations that can combine terrestrial data and services - such as AI, Quantum, machine learning and geospatial data - with satellite data and services, can provide analysis to derive value-added insights, to develop innovative solutions to customers in the UK Transport & Logistics and the Financial Services sectors.
